What follows is the original storyboard for my ongoing Yu Yu Hakusho fanfic "Anything She Does". It was originally primarily about Hiei and Botan, but has since turned into something much bigger. I think this version is still good, but I prefer the cheesiness of the final version I am in the process of writing/posting.

As the below shows, Yukina remained in the ice village, Kuwabara never got his memories back (and he was not the creator of the tree-house), Shuichi remained in the hospital, Keiko only made a fleeting appearance near the end and Shizuru and Maya were not a part of the story. (There are other, huge differences, but I can't post the comparisons right now without spoiling the end of what I'm writing!)

"Anything She Does" Storyboard (created 23 September 2009)

Ch.1: Tragic and Stoic
Hiei and the gang are on a mission in demon world and Hiei leaves Botan to die at the hands of a rock monster without remorse
Back in spirit world, Botan tells him she will forever hate him for what he did and Koenma bans Hiei (indefinitely) from the living world and spirit world

Ch.2: Dividing Opinions
(10 years later) Yukina is back in the ice village, there is a war in demon world, Hiei has never seen or heard of any of the gang since the rock monster incident
Mukuro has developed a new attack, “Dividing Realities”, which is like “Dividing Space” but it instead splits realities
Hiei challenges her to use it on him and it sends him to another reality

Ch.3: The Difference
In another reality, Hiei finds that he married Botan and had a son with her, Yukina is in a relationship with Kuwabara, Yusuke and Keiko are still together and working in the restaurant together and Kurama owns a plant shop with Maya.
Hiei is surprised not to be banned from the other worlds, there is no war and the others still talk to him
He is shocked to find out that this reality is only so much better because he saved Botan from the rock monster and ultimately went on to marry her

Ch.4: Magic and Heroic
Hiei starts to realise just how much Botan loves him and he starts to like the idea of having a son
He starts to settle into life in the alternate reality and thinks staying there won’t be so bad

Ch.5: Bitter Truths
Hiei’s wound heals during his sleep and he awakens back in his own reality and back in the living world – no tree-house, Genkai’s temple is ruined
The SDF take him before Koenma and he meets Botan of his own reality again, and she is terrified of him and hates him still

Ch.6: Going Home
Hiei decides the other (paradise) reality is better than his own reality and he asks Mukuro to “send him home”
She sends him to another reality, but it is the wrong one – Botan is a mindless demon and Hiei is living as a human and Keiko’s lover

Ch.7: Tide of Chaos
Hiei visits several other realities, each more absurd than the last, but never manages to return to paradise (includes reality where he is Mukuro’s lover, reality where Botan joined the SDF, reality where Hiei is Mukuro’s ambassador and reality where Hiei never had his scars healed from fighting the rock monster)

Ch.8: Look Around
Back in his own reality, Hiei stops to consider what all the other realities actually meant and why the “aradise” reality was superior
He realises that it was his own decisions that made his own reality so bad, but too much time has passed to undo the damage he has caused

Ch.9: Desperation Tactics
Mukuro says she will only send Hiei away one more time, and it is not to the “aradise” reality
Hiei makes the alternate Mukuro use the “Dividing Realities” on him and he is sent into a loop of continual leaping between realities without end, which almost kills him

Ch.10: Anything I Do
Hiei eventually returns to his own reality and is brought before Koenma again and he realises that he will always return there and Botan will always hate him
Hiei learns that Botan is in a relationship with Koenma

Ch.11: Slight Return
Hiei manages to convince Mukuro to attack him one more time and he arrives back in paradise
Life is better than he remembered in paradise

Ch.12: Paradise Found
Hiei realises how great life in paradise is, so he widens his wound to prolong his stay
He learns many more things about how paradise came about (ambassador’s peace talk, how he wooed Botan, etc)

Ch.13: One Defining Moment
Botan tells Hiei about the “one defining moment” that she knew for certain that he loved her
Hiei realises that widening his wound has not worked to maintain his existence, as the original damage is healing anyway despite what he has done, and he realises he won’t be able to stay in paradise

Ch.14: Broken Apart
Hiei tries to severely injure himself to stay in paradise but is caught cutting himself by Botan and his son
Botan panics and realises he is a fake, and she runs to Koenma to protect her – this is the last thing Hiei sees before he returns to his own reality

Ch.15: Beyond Repair
Back in his own reality, Hiei learns that Kuwabara lost his memories and does not know who or what he is, Shuichi went insane after Kurama left his body, and Keiko has become bitter since Yusuke left her (proving his own reality is “beyond repair”
He finds the person who built the tree-house (an old one-time room-mate of Kuwabara’s from his college days) and manages to convince him to build it

Ch.16: Anything She Does
Hiei invites Botan to run away with him until the war in demon world passes, and says that when they return they will live in the tree-house – she can’t ever take a human form or have children, but he is happy just to have her as she is
After seeing that he is genuine and has been through so much to reach her, Botan agrees and elopes with Hiei, and both hope for a brighter future
